“Love Your City Month” Event Schedule:

May 8 – 12    UNLIMITED BAGGED TRASH PICKUP

  • All trash must be bagged
  • All bags must weigh less than 50 pounds
  • All items must be placed at curbside by 7:00 am on your normal trash collection day

May 13    HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE & ELECTRONIC WASTE COLLECTION DAY!

May 15 – 19  UNLIMITED BUNDLED BRUSH PICKUP

  • All brush must be bundled not larger than 4 feet long
  • All branches must be less than 2 inches thick
  • No trees, tree trunks, stumps, or logs
  • Brush must be bundled with rope or twine (no wire or belts)
  • Regular trash day compost pickup will not be affected
  • All items must be placed at curbside by 7:00 am on your normal trash collection day

June 10    FREE TIRE DISPOSAL EVENT

  • Location:         Environmental Rubber Recycling, 6515 N. Dort Hwy
  • Time:               10:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • Tire Buy-back Program will pay by tire or per load – $1 per tire up to a maximum of $25 OR $25 dollars per load for 25 tires or more
  • Auto and light truck tires accepted ONLY
  • No commercial tires allowed
  • Tire disposal for City of Flint residents ONLY
  • Must show proof of residency
  • No commercial vehicles allowed (e.g. box trucks, moving trucks, semi-trucks, trailers etc)

Flint, Mich – The City of Flint, in partnership with Republic Services and Keep Genesee County Beautiful, will be participating in the “Love Your City Month” Program again this year. All residents of the city are given the opportunity to spring clean their property throughout the month of May by promoting waste pick up opportunities for residents.

Each week a service will be promoted to support the City of Flint’s spring clean-up during the regular residential waste collection on customer’s normal waste pickup day. These services include:

May 1-5 unlimited large item pickup, May 8-12 unlimited trash pickup, and May 15 -19 unlimited brush pickup and a free tire disposal will be provided on June 10 (see details below for guidelines on what is and is not acceptable. Residents with questions regarding the waste pickup can call Republic Services of Flint at (800)438-0966.

Keep Genesee County Beautiful will provide volunteer groups with cotton work gloves, litter grabbers, free yard bags, and garbage bags to anyone who takes part in the efforts to clean public spaces such as parks, schools, libraries, medians, and right-of-ways. To request supplies for your event, residents should contact Keep Genesee County Beautiful at least 10 days in advance, at (810)767-9696.

Organizations, and Groups interested in organizing a neighborhood cleanup should contact the City of Flint Blight Elimination Division, at (810)237-2090, two weeks prior to scheduling their event. This advanced notice will ensure that appropriate resources are available at the time of the cleanup.  

City of Flint and Genesee County Recycle Day will be held at the City of Flint’s Water Service Center, 3310 E. Court Street between Court Street and Averill Avenue on May 13, 2017, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and at an out county location of Davison High School, 1250 N. Oak Street, Davison, MI 48423. For questions regarding this event, please call the Genesee County Recycling Hotline at (810)762-7744. 

Another opportunity to recycle items, not included in the residential pickup, is the Free Tire Disposal being held on June 10, 2017 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Environmental Rubber Recycling, 6515 N. Dort Highway. Residents of the City of Flint can bring auto and light truck tires (off the rim, and no commercial tires) to Environmental Rubber Recycling for a Tire Buy-back Program. Commercial vehicles, such as box trucks, moving trucks, semi-trucks, and trailers, will not be allowed. Other restrictions include $1 per tire with a maximum payout of $25 per resident (see flier and event calendar for further information).
