Petitions are now available for persons interested in seeking election to the Flint Board of Education.
One seat is open for the election, to be held on Nov. 6, 2018. The person elected will serve a six-year term, expiring Dec. 31, 2024.
During the Nov. 7, 2017 election, Flint voters approved the reduction of the number of board seats from nine (9) to seven (7), resulting in the elimination of two (2) seats. The terms of board members Antoinette Lockett, Vera Perry and Harold Woodson expire Dec. 31, 2018.
Candidates must file their petitions with the Flint City Clerk, 1101 S. Saginaw Street, by 4 p.m. July 24, 2018, with:
Candidates must be a citizen of the United States, not less than 18 years of age, a registered voter, a resident of the State of Michigan not less than 30 days, and a resident of the public school district of the City of Flint on or before the 30th day before the election.
