Midwest Invitational Rodeo Returns with Non-Stop Action, Culture, and a Powerful Wellness Fair!

Flint, MI – The Midwest Invitational Rodeo (MWIR) is galloping back into Genesee County Fairgrounds from June 13-14, 2025, promising an unforgettable weekend of high-octane rodeo action, cultural pride, and community empowerment!

Featuring top African American rodeo athletes from across the country, this high-energy event will showcase fearless cowboys and cowgirls as they take on fierce bulls, lightning-fast horses, and adrenaline-pumping challenges in the arena. From bull riding to steer wrestling to barrel racing, every moment is packed with excitement!

This year, the excitement kicks off early with the first-ever MWIR Golf Tournament at Flint’s Swartz Creek Golf Course on Friday, June 13, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start! Registration and sponsorship opportunities are available.

“Flint is proud to once again host this thrilling rodeo event, giving our families and youth an opportunity to experience the incredible skill and legacy of Black cowboys and cowgirls,” said Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “We are not only celebrating history and sportsmanship, but we’re also opening doors for the next generation to see what’s possible.”

NEW THIS YEAR: EMPOWERMENT HEALTH & WELLNESS FAIR

On Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the EmpowerMENt Health & Wellness Fair will take center stage at the Genesee County Fairgrounds. Hosted in partnership with Genesee Health System, this event is free and open to all, focusing on men’s physical and mental health, substance-free living, and community resources.

Health Fair Highlights:
Panel Discussions – Conversations on wellness, mental health, and community support
Interactive Demonstrations – Hands-on activities to promote a healthy lifestyle
Giveaways & Free Lunch – Freebies for attendees while supplies last
Mental & Physical Health Screenings – Professional health assessments available on-site

Bareback Bronc Riding – One hand, one horse, and eight wild seconds!
Barrel Racing – Watch cowgirls blaze through tight turns with skill and speed.
Steer Wrestling – A daring event where cowboys chase, leap, and wrestle steers to the ground.
Women’s Steer Undecorating – A race against time as cowgirls grab a ribbon from a sprinting steer.
