The City of Flint is honored to celebrate five years of Juneteenth as a municipal holiday. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Flint City Hall will be closed with a paid day off for city employees. The City of Flint will present a community fireworks display in partnership with the Flint Downtown Development Authority.
Fireworks will launch from Chevy Commons with visibility for spectators throughout the downtown Flint area. The fireworks will begin at dusk, around 9:45-10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19.
In 2020, Mayor Neeley announced that Juneteenth would be a holiday in the City of Flint, one year before Juneteenth became a national holiday. Flint was among the first cities in Michigan to celebrate Juneteenth as a municipal holiday with fireworks.
There will be no delay in residential waste collection the week of Juneteenth.
