GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the Human Resources/Labor Relations Director; performs professional nursing services for prospective and current City of Flint employees. Assist in conducting physical examinations and administering treatment for injured employees; promotes health and safety. Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical, administrative and technical work in planning, coordinating and administering Worker's Compensation Programs for the City of Flint; performs related work as required.
 
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
2. At least three (3) years work experience as a Registered Nurse; one (1) year which must have been in an occupational health setting.
3. Working knowledge of the provisions of the State of Michigan Workers' Disability Compensation Act.
4. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and materials of modern nursing practices, , particularly those relative to occupational nursing and physical assessment.
5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, employees and patients; Ability to communicate under adverse conditions with distressed individuals.
6. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with departmental policies; ability to follow complex oral and written instructions, particularly those relative to medical procedures and practices.
7. Skill in the use of general office equipment, including computers and related software, specialized systems and databases.
8. Ability to present facts and ideas effectively, orally and in writing.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Possession of a current valid license from the Michigan Department of Licensing and regulation as a Registered Nurse.
2. Possession of a Certificate as an Audiometric Technician and CPR Instructor or ability to obtain in six (6) months.
3. Completion of at least one college accredited course in physical assessment or ability to obtain in six (6) months.
4. Possession of a valid State of Michigan Driver's license at time of appointment.
