Mayor Dayne Walling Calls Tragic Death of Civil Rights Activist
Attorney C. Frederick Robinson “A Tremendous Loss
To The Flint Community”
Attorney Robinson was found dead in his Flint home late Friday night.

Flint, Michigan – June 18, 2011 – Longtime Civil Rights Activist and prominent Flint Attorney C. Frederick Robinson was found dead in his west side Flint home late Friday night. Just before 11:45 pm Friday, June 17th Flint police responded to a call at Attorney Robinson’s home in the 1800 block of Brookside Drive. When they arrived they found the body of Robinson inside the home, an apparent victim of a shooting. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Robinson had been a civil rights activist and attorney in the City of Flint since the 1950’s. Mayor Dayne Walling says the cause of his death is “troubling” and is a huge loss to the community.

“Attorney Robinson was an iconic figure in our community. For more than 50 years he was on the front lines fighting for justice and equality for all,” said Walling. “This community continues to benefit from his efforts, most notably his involvement with the passage of the 1968 Fair Housing Ordinance. The approval of this ordinance, by voters, propelled Flint into the national spotlight for its advancements in civil rights by becoming the first city in the nation to outlaw discrimination in housing. C. Frederick Robinson made this community a better place; his tragic death is a tremendous loss to the Flint community.”
