MOTT PARK GOLF COURSE TEED UP FOR NEW SEASON SALES OF SPECIAL PASSES TO FUND GOLF COURSE OPERATION
FLINT, Mich. – Mott Park Golf Course will open this season under a new funding plan devised by Acting Mayor Michael K. Brown’s administration in partnership with members of the Flint City Council. The plan was developed in collaboration with Sixth Ward Councilman Sheldon Neeley, whose district includes Mott Park.

The City is selling special season passes for $130 each for use exclusively at Mott Park. The city is targeting sales of 10,000 passes, with proceeds to benefit Mott Park and the other three city-owned courses.

“This is a way to help us make the opening of Mott financially feasible, and to give residents and non-residents an opportunity to play golf this summer at a very reasonable rate,” said Joe Eufinger, the city’s director of parks and recreation. “We’re hoping to get a significant turnout.”

The Mott Park passes are available in addition to the other season golf passes the City sells annually. The City also sells regular ($650), senior ($450), junior ($275) and trail ($450) passes, which may be used at any of the four City-owned courses.

Mott Park is a picturesque, nine-hole course nestled along the banks of the Flint River in the Mott Park neighborhood. It is also walking distance from Kettering University campus and McLaren Regional Medical Center.

Eufinger said the Mott Park passes are an economical way for families to play golf together. The special passes also provide an affordable option for individuals who might be interested in granting a scholarship to a youth for a season of golf.

Mott Park is scheduled to reopen in early April, along with Kearsley Lake, Swartz Creek and Pierce Park golf courses.
